Our guests included 9th Degree Karate Grandmaster Michael Sullenger who led us through the “Mechanics Of Kicking”, 7th Degree black Sash Grandmaster Dan Suchon who taught Vital Point Attacks and Modern Arnis, 6th Degree Black Belt Master David Borowitz shared Hapkido and Krav Maga giving insight into the gentle and not so gentle ways of protecting yourself.Newly promoted (At the first of the Clinic) 6th Degree Black Sash Master Juli Hartmann taught Animal Fighting (No animals were injured during this class ,only people, just kidding), 6th Degree Black Belt Soke Dai Patty Sanders taught the bow and applications from Mozong One, and I (Sijo) taught the most used Chi Gong form of Karate and Kung Fu alike “Sanchin” as well as a combination of Wing Chun and Silat throwing and locking. The day ended with about 30 of us going to the “China Star” resteraunt for some great food. Saturday was a day filled with , sweat, grimaces, grins, laughter, and downright fun.

As a student at SBBA you know we do frequent workshops. What we want to know is what you would like to have a workshop on? I’ll give you a list. Just tell me in class.

Wing Chun, Hsing I, Bagua,Tai Chi,Aiki Ju jutsu,Silat,Savate,Acupressure,Qigong,Massage,Staff,Samurai Sword, Nunchaku, Etc.

Just let us know and if we forgot something tell us that too.

A million years ago I was a Kickboxer and a Full Contact (Chinese Rules +no rules) fighter. One of the key elements was endurance. We ran stairs to improve our speed, strength, and explosiveness. We sparred for upto thirty minutes non stop,we would combine road work three to five miles intersperced with 100 yard sprints flat out, we ran uphil with weights or a training partner on our back, we did marathon ab work (thousands of repetitions), we did circuit training with the weghts (Yeah tell me weight training isn’t a cardio workout), Then we’d do rounds of just getting beat on to get used to the endurance it takes to survive and thrive. Now for you people who want to forego the beating and don’t have time for the 6 day a week program we have Cardio Kickboxing as we call it now (We have a class at 6pm on monday & wednesday Try it out)It’s great. Just ask Daren.
